A revitalized the Russian player won his first title for over two years with a win over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a difficult season, achieving just a single victory at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the US Open.

The player's varied form on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in particular - resulted in him exiting of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with former trainer Gilles Cervara.

Presently training with his coach and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set win over challenger Moutet.

It is the player's first trophy following the Rome competition and maiden on a hard surface since that period of that year.

Victory also signifies he has won twenty-one championships at twenty-one different competitions.

"It's the first time I have attended a tournament with my both daughters together, so to win a championship is really nice," said ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had failed in his previous six finals, comprising in that event previously this season.

His defensive approach and frequent outbursts on the tennis court had prompted observers to question if his skill to play at the highest level was over.

But the athlete has made changes in recent weeks, striving to advance forward and compete assertively, supported by an enhanced serving game.

Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging opponent, taking four of the final five games to gain the advantage.

The pair traded breaks in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his first tour title, seized the initiative to force a final set.

The opponent saved 4 early chances in a close third set before Medvedev broke to that score to secure the win.

Fittingly, the winner earned the win with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet failing to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
